Atom access and AI usage are billed separately. Here’s what matters before you start.

Trial

Atom includes a 7-day free trial that works locally on your machine. You can start the trial directly from the welcome screen (no account required). When the trial expires, tap Upgrade to unlock unlimited use.

You’ll still need to sign in with OpenAI or Anthropic before running automations.

OpenAI currently includes limited Codex usage with free accounts in some cases, so you may be able to try Atom without a paid OpenAI plan. Availability, regions, and limits are controlled by OpenAI and can change.

Atom Licence

  • One-time purchase: Pay once and own your licence forever. No recurring fees, no expiration.
  • Updates: Your purchase includes one year of updates. Any version released during that year is yours to keep permanently, even after the year ends.
  • After one year: You can continue using your current version indefinitely, or pay an upgrade fee at any point to receive another year of updates.
  • Seats: Each licence allows up to two machines per user. Free a seat before moving computers via Settings → Account → Deactivate device.

AI Usage

Atom runs automations through OpenAI by default, with optional Anthropic support. AI costs are billed directly by the provider you use.

  • OpenAI/Codex powers the built-in chat experience, including personal, Business, Enterprise, and API-key setups.
  • Anthropic is optional and connects through Claude Code.

Atom does not add any markup or proxy fees on top of provider pricing. You pay the AI provider directly. For a deeper look at what the limits are and how they work, see Usage Limits, or see Team & Custom AI Setup for team and API-key setups.

Image Generation (Optional)

Atom’s image generation feature uses OpenRouter. If you want to generate images, add a small balance to an OpenRouter account and paste your API key in Atom’s settings. This is separate from OpenAI or Anthropic and only needed for image generation.

Team License Key

If your team has a shared licence key, you can activate it directly from the sign-in screen.

1. Open Atom and tap **I have an account**. 2. Below the email field, tap **Team license key**. 3. Paste your key (format: `XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX`) and tap **Activate**.

Each team key has a seat limit. If all seats are taken, contact your team admin to free one up.
